SnapVault Privacy Policy

Last updated 6 August 2026

Effective date: 6 August 2026

SnapVault ("the app") is a screenshot organizer for Android. This policy explains what data the app handles and how.

The short version

SnapVault is a fully on-device app. We do not collect, store, transmit, sell or share any of your data. We do not operate any servers. Your screenshots, tags, notes and extracted text never leave your device unless you copy them somewhere yourself.

Data the app processes — on your device only

  • Screenshots and images. With your permission, SnapVault reads new screenshots from your device's media store so you can tag and organize them. Organized screenshots are copied into the app's private storage on your device. If you enable it, the original is removed from your gallery — Android asks you to confirm each deletion.
  • Text inside screenshots (OCR). SnapVault uses Google ML Kit's on-device text recognition to index the text inside your screenshots so you can search them. This processing happens entirely on your device; images are not sent to any server.
  • Tags, notes and collections. Stored in a local database inside the app's private storage.
  • Settings. Preferences such as theme and detection toggles are stored locally.

Optional folder copy (Pro)

If you enable the folder feature, SnapVault copies your organized screenshots into a folder you choose, using Android's Storage Access Framework. If you pick a folder that is synced by a third-party service — for example Google Drive, Dropbox or OneDrive — that service's own privacy policy governs what happens to files placed there. SnapVault itself never uploads anything.

Purchases

SnapVault Pro is a one-time purchase processed entirely by Google Play Billing. We do not receive or store your payment details. Google's handling of your payment data is described in Google's own privacy policy.

Permissions the app requests

  • Photos and media access — to detect, display and organize your screenshots.
  • Notifications — to alert you when a new screenshot is detected in the background.
  • Foreground service — to keep screenshot detection running while the app is closed.

Data collection, analytics and ads

  • No analytics SDKs.
  • No advertising SDKs.
  • No accounts, no sign-in.
  • No data is transmitted to us — we have no servers to send it to.

Data retention and deletion

All data lives on your device. Deleting a screenshot in SnapVault moves it to the in-app recycle bin, which you can purge at any time. Uninstalling the app permanently deletes the app's private vault, database and settings. Files you copied to a folder of your choice remain in that folder, under your control.

Children

SnapVault is not directed at children under 13 and does not collect personal information from anyone.

Changes to this policy

If we change this policy, we will update the text and the effective date here.
